Community Education and Outreach
The Office of Community Education and Outreach enhances the academic mission of the University of Maine at Machias by building successful community/University partnerships; by providing facilities and services to on- and off-campus individuals and groups; and by offering non-credit workshops and courses to the communities it serves.
It accomplishes this by:
- offering lifelong learning opportunities by coordinating a selection of UMM non-credit workshops and courses each semester to meet community needs,
- coordinating a diverse and rich selection of conferences, meetings, seminars, workshops, banquets, and receptions for on- and off-campus groups and individuals,
- providing accommodations with competitive conference rates,
- providing professional staff ready to assist with every conference need, allowing the conference coordinator to focus on content rather than on logistical details,
- providing the coordination of meeting room set-up, exhibit space, audio visual equipment, instructional technology, signage, dining and lodging arrangements,
- providing account management and direct billing services.
Successful events include conferences, seminars, trainings, workshops, concerts, plays, children’s camps, summer wedding receptions, and more.
Facilities include state-of-the-art classrooms, computer labs, lecture halls, a 360-seat theatre, a large gym, an olympic-size pool, fitness area, outdoor areas, seminar and conference rooms.
