eChaucer ¤ Chaucer in the Twenty-First Century

Chaucer in The Regiment of Princes

This first founder of our fair language . . . Alas! My father from the world is gone, my worthy Master Chaucer. Be thou an advocate for him, heaven's queen. . .

Although his life is gone, the resemblance of him within me has so fresh a life, that to keep him in the memory of others, I have placed his image here for the purpose that those who have lost the thought of him may find it again.

Portrait of Chaucer

This is the famous portrait of Chaucer that appears in the manuscript of Hoccleve's Regiment of Princes.
