Are you interested in transferring to UMM?

What's required for transfer admission?

  • A minimum grade point average of 2.0 or better in previous college coursework. Note: Teacher education applicants should have a 2.5 in their major field of study.
  • Good standing at your previous college or university. Note: An applicant is not considered for admission for the semester immediately following their dismissal from another institution. Pursuant to University of Maine System policy, UMM will not admit students to matriculated status who have been suspended from another UMS campus until the conditions established for termination of that suspension have been met.

If you are a Washington County Community College student, please see our information on WCCC coordinated program articulations and direct course equivalencies .

Are you an international student?

UMM has a great tradition of welcoming students from around the world. In the Reynolds Center on campus, you'll see flags from around the world, displaying the wide range of countries from which our students have hailed.

The International Student Club and Diversity Committee are active on campus, helping us celebrate the various backgrounds of our student body and the enriching experiences that you bring with you.

To complete your application, also send to our Admissions Office:

  • An official or certified copy of any previous college work, sent directly from any institution you have attended.
  • An official or certified copy of your high school transcript, sent by your high school guidance counselor.
  • Written recommendations, a writing sample, and other pertinent information.

  • If you have college credit from outside the US, click here for credit evaluation and transfer instructions. Note: We require a precise English translation of all documents.

Are you seeking readmission to UMM?

A matriculated student who fails to enroll continuously each fall and spring semester, and who has not taken an official leave of absence, must apply for readmission to pursue a degree program. Application for readmission is made through the Admissions Office.

The student's status and class standing will be determined by a review of his or her previous academic work at UMM (and other institutions, if applicable), the period of time that has elapsed since active enrollment at UMM, and changes in the curriculum and program requirements.

Students who are accepted for readmission to UMM enter under the catalog requirements in force at the time of readmission, unless the student specifically requests on their readmission application to be readmitted under a catalog in force at the time of their earlier attendance.

Request for Grade Forgiveness: A student who is readmitted to UMM after a period of two or more years may choose one of the following options:

  • Retain all past credits, grades, quality points, and cumulative GPA.
  • Retain past credits only for courses in which a grade of C- or higher was received, and lose all quality points for coursework done prior to readmission.
  • Document extraordinary circumstances and appeal to the Vice President for Academic Affairs for special dispensations.

Students applying for readmission who wish to request the grade forgiveness policy (second option above) must make this request on their application for readmission.
